Regular Preventative Care Is Key
Routine preventative care helps keep your teeth healthy, saves you time and money, and prevents complications like tooth decay and gum disease. It also helps you make the most of your dental benefits.
The benefits of preventative care will show themselves for years to come and give Dr. Sweeney a chance to monitor your oral health.
Oral Cancer Screening & Biopsies
We offer oral cancer screenings as part of every appointment at The Ivory Dental Co. Oral cancer often goes unnoticed unless a dentist catches it early.
With devices like intraoral cameras, Dr. Sweeney can quickly look for and document signs of oral cancer. If any concerns are identified, we offer biopsy services to promptly collect a sample for immediate testing. Your well-being and peace of mind are our top priorities.
Our Preventative Care Services
You can expect a full suite of preventative care services when you visit us for your appointment. We offer cleanings, exams, fluoride treatments, and dental sealants to give your teeth the comprehensive attention they deserve.
Our team is also more than happy to answer any questions or concerns you may have during your appointment.
Teeth cleanings and oral exams are the heart of preventative care. Research has shown that oral health impacts the overall health of our bodies.
During this process, a hygienist at The Ivory Dental Co. will gather digital X-rays and intraoral images, check the overall health of your gums, and finish with a thorough dental cleaning.
Our compassionate hygienists will take the time to individualize a plan for your everyday needs to set you up for future healthy visits. Dr. Sweeney will then do your exam, fully inspecting your mouth to check that your teeth and gums are healthy.
Fluoride treatments are usually done after your cleaning. This process involves applying a fluoride-rich substance to your teeth to attract minerals, strengthen them, and prevent or even reverse minor tooth decay.
Dental sealants use a clear, strong dental resin that’s painted onto your back teeth in a liquid form, then hardens into a barrier that prevents cavities for up to 10 years. This treatment can be a great option for cavity-prone patients.
Our Periodontal Care Services
During gum infection therapy, your dental hygienist will use special instruments to clean deep beneath your teeth and gums to remove bacteria. She will also smooth the rough surfaces of your teeth and the nearby tissue to help prevent bacteria from coming back.
Along with antibiotics, this is a first step for gum disease treatment.
We use AirFlow therapy for guided biofilm removal to eliminate the uncomfortable ‘scraping’ feeling and sound that patients with sensitive teeth may feel uncomfortable with.
Airflow-guided biofilm removal uses a polisher that sprays a jet of air and powder to clean and remove plaque-filled biofilm from even the most hard-to-reach areas of your teeth and gums, which provides positive overall patient outcomes and a more pleasant experience.
Along with comprehensive preventative care services, we also offer a variety of treatments for gum disease, including both gum infection therapy and AirFlow-guided biofilm removal.
Dr. Sweeney guides you through your treatment and is always available to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
